FINANCIAL AUTHOR AND TRADING EDUCATOR

Named in keeping with the publishers tradition of “The Complete Guide . . .” series, this one is actually very comprehensive, and includes all the candlestick patterns that I could locate.

Overkill? Perhaps, but I wanted it to be the reference guide for traders into candle charts. It includes various studies by well-known traders, including Steve Nison himself, who pointed out to me other types of charting that he brought to the West such as Kagi and Renko, included in this book. But Steve did point out that no-one needs to know all the patterns, he himself uses about 13 on a regular basis.

Greg Morris, the other candlestick expert who has been somewhat in the shadow of Steve, wrote me: -

Hi Alan,

I just saw your book on candlesticks. Congratulations, nicely done. It was also nice to see some of the candle patterns that I made up 20 years ago and have since become part of the literature.

Three Inside up and down

Three outside up and down

I needed to come up with some way to improve the engulfing pattern and harami pattern. They definitely do that.
